Classical realist artist currently studying at the Florence Academy of Art
Morgan Curl is a painter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She studied at the University of Pennsylvania, earning her degree in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology, as well as a minor in Art History.
Before formally studying art, Morgan explored drawing and painting independently, developing a strong appreciation for representational work and historical techniques. Her foundation in both the study of people and their artifacts continues to shape the way she approaches portraiture and landscape painting.
Morgan is currently enrolled at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy- a school known for its rigorous, traditional approach to drawing and painting. The Academy follows the 19th-century atelier model, emphasizing observation, discipline, and a step-by-step progression from cast drawing to figure painting.
Her training includes intensive work in charcoal drawing, cast studies, and portraiture from life, as well as a focus on light, form, and anatomy. The program offers a slow, methodical education that reinforces technical skill and visual accuracy.
